Rajasthani Sherwani

Rajasthan is commonly acknowledged as the land of the Maharajas, an Indian state that remains in age old culture and tradition even today. Known for its rich heritage of arts and crafts, Rajasthani design has found takers both locally and abroad. The strong sense if design has been passed on to the Rajasthani sherwanis which are amongst the most unique of sherwanis worn today.

A Rajasthani sherwani has a design which is based on the Angarkha style where the sherwani has a side cut. This was the design that was followed during the time of the Maharajas, who were quite fond of luxurious lifestyles. Their attire was adorned with precious stones like pokhraj, panna and neelam among others. These designs are created even today however since the gem stones are very expensive; people prefer imitation and semi precious stones over them. Rajasthani sherwanis are easily distinguished due to the delicate embroidery which includes handwork of stones, crystals and dabka work.

The elegance of a Rajasthani sherwani is enhanced by the use of sparkling beads and pearls. Studded with multi color gems and stones, this sherwani lends a special air of importance to the personality. There are many ways to relive the flamboyance of the Maharajas of Rajasthan. Wearing a Rajasthani sherwani takes you back many a year ago and reminds you of the grandeur that existed during that time. Due to the royal finish of a Rajasthani sherwani, you are bound to make heads turn and attract envious looks.
